England have named a strong squad for their Test tour to Australia, with uncapped players set to make their international debut. The tourists will face the world’s number one ranked side in an Ashes series that starts on November 23rd.

England have named a strong squad for the tour to Australia. They will be hoping they can perform better than last time when they lost 4-0.

For the Ashes Test series in 2024-22, England will send their best available team to Australia.

For the five-match series, which starts on December 8 in Brisbane, Joe Root will lead the team, with wicketkeeper Jos Buttler serving as vice-captain.

Each of the 17 players has received a Test cap.

England head coach Chris Silverwood stated, “I am pleased that all of our eligible players have committed to the trip.”

Following player worries over Covid procedures, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) finally confirmed on Friday that the trip will go ahead.

The frontline hitters are Rory Burns, Dawid Malan, Haseeb Hameed, and Zak Crawley, who join Root.

England’s speed bowling possibilities include James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, Craig Overton, and Ollie Robinson, while spin bowling alternatives include Jack Leach and Dom Bess.

Along with Ollie Pope, Buttler, and all-rounder Chris Woakes, Dan Lawrence, who can also bowl spin, will compete for a place in the middle order.

Ben Stokes, a fellow all-rounder, is not in the squad as he recovers from surgery on his index finger after taking an extended sabbatical from cricket to preserve his mental health in July.

Fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Olly Stone, as well as left-arm seamer Sam Curran and all-rounder Moeen Ali, are all out due to injury, while all-rounder Moeen Ali just retired from Test cricket.

Broad is currently recuperating from a torn right calf but is “making good progress,” according to the ECB. He will be on his fourth Ashes trip.

“We have no illusions about how tough the job will be,” Silverwood added.

“Australia has a history of dominating at home, and many people anticipate them to win this series. However, there is real enthusiasm and confidence in our ability to do something extraordinary from our perspective.”

The players will be accompanied by a yet-to-be-determined England Lions team, which will provide coverage for the tour’s two months.

Both teams will depart for Australia on November 4th, with players on Twenty20 World Cup duty in the UAE joining the trip once their tournament obligations are completed.

After a 2-2 tie in 2019, Australia kept the Ashes in England, and England is trying to reclaim them.

The England team for the Ashes tour of Australia has been announced.

Joe Root (Yorkshire) captain, James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Dom Bess (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Rory Burns (Surrey), Jos Buttler (Lancashire) wicketkeeper, Zak Crawley (Kent), Haseeb Hameed (Nottinghamshire), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Dawid Malan (Y (Durham).

England’s players have agreed to go on tour.

There had been speculation that several of England’s players might withdraw from the winter trip, forcing the team to send a weaker side.

Concerns had been raised about whether players’ families would be permitted to travel, quarantine procedures, and the ‘bubble’ environment’s nature.

A number of England’s players have young families, notably Buttler, Wood, and Woakes.

Some of Australia’s Covid-19 procedures, which are among the toughest in the world, have made Root and vice-captain Buttler uncomfortable.

The ECB was able to confirm the trip “subject to certain key criteria” after discussions with Cricket Australia.

Those restrictions are believed to be related to concessions made to enable athletes’ families to travel.

However, Australia’s borders remain restricted to foreign visitors, which means no England supporters will be able to come to support the tourists.

There will be more to come.
